Avian Metapneumovirus (aPMV) Keynote Speech at WPDC!
Due to the emergence of aMPV in the U.S., WPDC approached one of the world experts in the field to address WPDC audience. With numerous publications on the topic, including the metapneumovirus chapter in “Diseases of Poultry”, Dr. Rautenschlein is without doubt an expert on aPMV. Dr. Rautenschlein's virtual keynote address will cover diagnostics, pathiobiology, mixed infections, vaccination, and surveillance of this emerging disease in the U.S.

Message from the 73rd WPDC Program Chair
We are excited to be holding the 73rd WPDC in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah! The 2024 WPDC will be held in person, along with the ACPV workshop, April 14 to 17, 2024. This year comes with some new changes, as we all strive to further our knowledge and expertise in our poultry careers. Therefore, the theme of this year’s conference is “The Evolution of Poultry Medicine in the Modern World: New Diagnostic Techniques and Interpretations.”
The emphasis for selecting abstracts will be placed on novel techniques for diagnostics (e.g. metabolomics, i-stat, next-generation sequencing, rapid detection assays etc.), complex clinical field cases, disease investigation and advances in poultry disease research. We would like to invite veterinary students, residents, graduate students, new and experienced poultry veterinarians, as well as anyone involved in the poultry industry.
For this meeting, we will request a title and 150-word summary. From there, oral and poster presentations will be selected from that pool which will then be included in the 73rd Annual WPDC Proceedings. Detailed instructions for the complete manuscript submission will be provided to those who are accepted.
